Climathon HAK/HAS Mistelbach

Approaching Climate Action via Gamification

Fall 2024, 1 evening, multi-stakeholder co-creation process

_________

Can we approach climate action via games?

People don’t need more information about climate change. They need approachable ways to engage with it.

At the Climathon in HAK/HAS Mistelbach, students and citizens explored exactly that: how to turn complex climate challenges into games that invite people to think, feel, and act. Step by step, they moved from questions to ideas, from ideas to stories, and from stories to first playable concepts.

What emerged were games that invited new ways of understanding into the room. Climate adaptation became something tangible, discussable, and shareable.

The format created a space where experimentation was welcome, where different perspectives came together, and where creativity became a tool for engagement.

Sometimes, the first step to action is as simple as
creating a story others want to step into.
