How can young people feel invited to engage hands-on in meaningful climate action?

Motivation is not the problem. Opportunity is.

At HLW Hollabrunn, the Climathon created that opportunity. In cooperation with KLAR! Göllersbach, students were given the space, structure, and support to turn their ideas into real projects — as part of the curriculum.

Over the course of the semester, initiatives around food rescue, tree planting, sustainable fashion, and environmental action took shape as lived practice.

The strength of this format lies in its simplicity: We focussed on meeting the students where they are at, connecting the challenges to their everyday lives, their networks, their school, to make implementation accessible.

Students experienced what it means to take ownership. They saw how their actions can inspire others – and how to build momentum.
